Sorrento, a small town in Campania, Southern Italy is the stuff that holiday dreams are made of. A stone’s throw from the enticing city of Naples, historic Pompeii, and of course fringed by the undeniably beautiful Sorrento coastline, you can’t go wrong with a visit to this stunning Italian town. Here are the top 10 things to do in and around Sorrento.

  1. First and foremost, be sure to explore Corso Italia, the main street that runs straight through the town. The main hub of Sorrento, here you will find a vast selection of shops from upmarket designers to individual boutiques intertwined with numerous restaurants and bars.
  2. The town’s cathedral Duomo di San Filippo e Giacomo, dates back as far as the 15th century and makes for a worthy and cultural sight to visit. Found on Corso Italia, the exterior cleverly disguises the beauty found within. That said, the triple-tiered bell tower still makes for an impressive sight.  Gaze in awe at the beautiful frescoes and selection of artworks, as well as the archbishop’s throne and marble pulpit.
  3. Jump on board one of the many relaxing cruises to the nearby island of Capri. En route you can enjoy complimentary food and drinks, stop for snorkelling fun and see some stunning natural caves such as the White, Blue and Green Grottos, not to mention of course the opportunity to discover all that the island itself has to offer.
  4. Sorrento is the perfect base from which to visit the famous hidden cities of Pompeii and Ercolano.
